Ballam Park Preschool

More Info

We at Ballam Park Preschool acknowledge the Boon Wurrung People of the Kulin Nation as the traditional custodians of this land. We pay our respects to them for their care of the land on which we live today and our children and families play and learn on. We would like to pay our respect to Elders past and present, and welcome all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities to our Preschool.

At Ballam Park Preschool:

  • We aim to provide high quality Early Childhood Education, full of valuable experiences with positive outcomes for all children.
  • We are committed to provide your children with a nurturing, supportive, secure and fun environment, where children and adults collaborate together, share their learning and extend their knowledge.
  • Our belief is children learn through play. We provide fun, exciting, spontaneous, hands-on, stimulating, relaxing, comforting and challenging experiences, where the children learn at their own pace.
  • We believe it is important to provide opportunities for children to experiment, discover, explore, create, investigate, solve problems and express ideas with the support of their peers and the staff. We achieve this by using the Victorian Early Years Learning Framework and the National Early Years Learning Framework of Belonging, Being and of Becoming.
  • Educational visitors and excursions extending children’s interests and supporting the program.
  • We provide an all inclusive Preschool environment, recognising and respecting the diverse culture, traditions and beliefs within our community. We welcome and appreciate families’ participation and contributions to our Preschool community.
  • We provide a strong foundation for the children’s social, emotional, spiritual, physical health and well being.
  • A close working relationship with Ballam Park Primary School including regular visits for both Preschool and Primary School children and teaching staff.
  • Close and easy access to Ballam Park Primary School, set amongst beautiful Parklands.

Your child’s first step in their education!

  • At Ballam Park Preschool, we are extremely committed to providing your children with a nurturing, supportive, an  ‘all inclusive’ safe, secure and fun environment, where our children and adults collaborate together, share their knowledge and extend their learning. We endeavour and are dedicated to embedding this into our everyday practice.
  • We follow the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework and the Australian National Quality Framework of ‘Being’, ‘Belonging’ and ‘Becoming’ for Early Childhood.
  • We always strive to provide high quality Early Childhood education, full of valuable experiences with positive outcomes for all our children within the Preschool.
  • We are inclusive of all of our families, valuing their many diverse communities. We encourage and support all of our families, including our 1st people from Indigenous backgrounds, culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, LGBTQIA families and those facing hardship, to share the nurturing, care and education of their children.
  • Ballam Park Preschool is committed to child safety and complies with the Child Safe Standards as specified under the Child Safety and Wellbeing Act 2005 and also under the Child Safety and Wellbeing Amendment Act 2015.
  • We encourage each family to participate in the Preschool community and we welcome and appreciate their interest, their ideas, their support and their involvement.
  • We continue to encourage, support and enhance your children’s learning potential, by offering meaningful experiences that develop, build and extend their overall development.
  • We promote and value our children’s learning through play, emphasising the importance of building their knowledge and understanding throughout the Preschool environment. We encourage this through providing a wide range of activities, experiences and open-ended materials, where our children are free to engage in ‘hands on’ exploration, investigation and discovery, flourishing at their own pace.
  •  We provide our children with extended periods of play, where they can explore, discover, extend their skills and build their focus and concentration under the guidance, support and positive encouragement of all our teaching staff.
  • We provide opportunities for our children to express themselves through imagination and creatively with a range of materials. We celebrate their ideas, feelings, thoughts and efforts.
  • We encourage our children to become independent, self confident, self reliant and inquisitive learners, who can think for themselves and continue to build their sense of agency.
  • We plan an educational program that supports and reflects upon our individual children’s interests and ideas, fostering their developmental strengths, their thoughts, feelings, preferences and abilities.
  • We believe play should be fun, exciting, spontaneous, hands-on, stimulating, relaxing, comforting, and challenging.
  • We value the importance of providing a wide range of opportunities for our children to experiment, discover, explore, create, investigate, practice theories, solve problems and express their ideas with the support of their peers and the staff.

We believe in celebrating education and building a community of learners, enabling our children to develop not only a readiness for the transition to school but more importantly a readiness for life.

At Ballam Park Preschool, we are committed to providing a child safe environment, where our children are safe and feel safe, and their voices are heard about decisions that affect their lives.
